Chud⁶: As sad as it is this is what atheists look like AND what they say, because the truth is that you can't just slot "nothing" into the "what do I have faith in" slot in your psyche.
You can "abandon" Christianity (which is where most atheists come from, second place seems to be Islam, what a shock since Abrahamic religions are dogshit) all you want: it still lives rent-free in your head. Deep down, your relationship with Yahweh is still parent-child (the whole point of Abrahamic religions since their aim is to keep ou in arrested development,) only now it's recontextualized as abandonment and resentment.

Being a LARPagan is marginally better since at least it's an attempt to rediscover the authentic religious experience from before it was poisoned for over half of humanity. But you can't just decide what to believe in through conscious action, especially when your subconscious is still caught up in Christian childhood trauma. Deep down, LARPagans know their faith is a sham (they themselves admit they can NEVER have the same relationship with the gods their ancestors had. Even lifestlye differences aside, forcibly going back to a position of ignorance of the world is impossible.) That's why they get so upset when they get called out on LARPing.

The ONLY westerners I've ever met who were actually free of this thing were people who threw themselves into Dharmic religions, since the timeless framework they offer can be applied even to modern life.
