0xDEED: @Chud: Americans and British both fought the Bolsheviks in the Russian civil war. Britain let Germany break the Treaty of Versailles to build more warships, invade Czechoslovakia, and even considered allying with Nazis vs Soviets. They refused to enter 3-way mutual defensive pacts with France and Russia. Their plan all along was to let Soviets take the brunt of the German attack and mop up the remainders. That's why Soviets entered the Molotov-ribbentrop pact, to threaten Britain that if they didn't get involved, they might face a Nazi-Soviet alliance. Lend lease wasn't done because America loved communism or something, in fact, the Espionage act had been used to imprison hundreds of thousands of US labor activists/communists/etc (most famously Eugene Debs who ran for president from prison). It was done because if the Soviets lost, Britain and America would have to face all of Eurasia, a losing prospect (Kissinger called the US and Britain "Sea powers" and Europe/Asia "Land powers", and theorized that sea powers must not allow a dominant land power to emerge or they would eventually be defeated, but this theory existed before him)
Wow everyone is shocked
they weren't even industrialized at that point
