however, a couple hundred years before british settlers arrived, the spanish had already seeded the continent with old world diseases via trading, which decimated huge swathes of the native population and caused their great cities to fall into ruin
by the time whites started settling the continent, the natives were basically a post apocalyptic waste of nomadic tribes, which is why people associate them with savagery
if their immune systems were stronger, or if they were vaxxed, it'd be more like a china/india scenario, where they'd be colonized and managed by puppet leaders, but eventually regain their independence when colonizers ran out of money (colonization was actually a net profit loss during almost all european attempts)
